Today is America Recycles Day! It’s celebrated every November
15th here in the United States and is about promoting the benefits
of recycling and encouraging more people to join in and create a better natural
environment. And, it’s working! Since the holiday began in 1997, Americans are
both better informed and recycling more.
However, there is still more work to be done. Recycling a
single aluminum can save enough energy to power a television for up to 3 hours;
but according to the National Recycling Coalition, Americans are tossing enough
aluminum cans into landfills to rebuild the entire US fleet of commercial
airplanes – every three months!
We can all do better. Today, let’s take a moment to consider
our own recycling habits, and consider how we can improve them. Even a small change
can make a big difference.

You can even join the tens of thousands of others who are taking a pledge to recycle
more.
