America Recycles Day

Today is America Recycles Day! It’s celebrated every November 15^th here in the United States and is about promoting the benefits of recycling and encouraging more people to join in and create a better natural environment. And, it’s working! Since the holiday began in 1997, Americans are both better informed and recycling more.

However, there is still more work to be done. Recycling a single aluminum can save enough energy to power a television for up to 3 hours; but according to the National Recycling Coalition, Americans are tossing enough aluminum cans into landfills to rebuild the entire US fleet of commercial airplanes – every three months!

We can all do better. Today, let’s take a moment to consider our own recycling habits, and consider how we can improve them. Even a small change can make a big difference.

If you’d like to learn more about America Recycles Day, the official website is http://americarecyclesday.org. You can even join the tens of thousands of others who are taking a pledge to recycle more.
